Melbourne

When we started talking about going to Australia, Melbourne was a no brainer. Rob’s mom was born just outside the city, his grandmother was born and raised in the area, and since we have wanted to start the process of duel citizenship for ages we knew we needed to go.

Melbourne is a very beautiful city. The perfect mix of London and Portland, it was easy to see why people love it there. We stayed in St. Kilda close to Albert Park, got to travel to the Yarra Valley, the Mornington Peninsula, drove the Formula 1 street track and even saw the penguin s on the pier. For the 3 days we were there, we made some serious ground. I have to say my highlight was the Moonlight Sanctuary. Check out that post for more.

Here are some highlight pics from Melbourne.

Also, for those who have asked, Waylon was so great on the flight. We took a redeye so he would fall asleep naturally and he got caught up on his Disney movies. 18 hours seems pretty intense for a 4 year old, but he loved it. The flight attendants were awesome and made sure he (and us) had everything we needed. There were no tears or meltdowns - thank goodness - and the jetlag wasn’t too bad. We made sure we had an Airbnb that had a pool so he could get out the wiggles and go to bed early.

We got to see the hospital where Waylon’s Nana was born in Upper Ferntree Gully!
